Hope it works out much better this time around. I have a friend who weighs in well above 300 pounds. We walked up behind him once and wondered why he would wear a thong. Imagine our surprise when we realized he was sitting on a moped and it was the rear tire we were seeing. Old Guys (Brian and Joanne)

this is so true. it takes time on the bike to get your butt used to it.
when i did my first century ride, it wasn't my legs that needed training, it was my butt!
i had to put in the time to get it used to being on that saddle for 4-5 hours.

and if you take a long break from riding, you have to start from square one again.

It's brutal. I'm sore just sitting in an office chair.

My customer just invested in stand up desks - they can be raised or lowered so you can work on your feet. I believe that says a lot about how boring some of the work here can be, but it sure would help in your situation.

All kidding aside, Doug, but you really need bike shorts... seriously. Didn't realize you were riding without them. A few miles here and there are fine sans shorts, but its kinda' necessary for any distance. If you don't like the traditional skin-tight look, you can get mountain bike shorts that look like regular shorts, but with the padding.

I always feel it in the spring, takes me a few trips to not be uncomfortable. Remember to keep riding as one comment said. Not biking for several days brings you back to ground zero.
Keep riding, it is great exercise
