I have been married to two Irish women and traveled to the Island to find the ancestors. Now after evaluating the DNA, I found out that we are Irish not English. The whole day feels different.
This might be a good time to point out that Irish Catholics have been severely discriminated against in this country. Johm F Kennedy had to overcome being Catholic to be elected president. There are more Irish in the US than back on the Island. Immigrants were poor and often did not speak English. They were poorly educated. It was common to see signs for "Help Wanted, but no Irish." We are a country of immigrants.
