I am learning to insure heavily and don't put too much attachment in to material things. My truck is like my personal Millennium Falcon. It's as much a part of me as one of my arms. You would have a better shot of buying one of my kids off of me as you would my truck.
So naturally, I was devastated when it was stolen last year. Theres no way I could even find another 7.3 diesel Excursion to try to build another one like it. I had resigned myself having to move on to another truck. But luckily, I got it back, bruised, abused and beat to hell to be sure, but I got it back.
I learned my lesson. My camper and my Harley are now insured enough that if either gets stolen, the little green lizard on TV will buy me a new one. I used to obsess over locking the Harley, locking the saddle bags, installing the brake-rotor lock and arming the alarm, even if I was just going into a cafe for lunch. Since I upped the insurance, I haven't actually locked it once (in fact, I'm not even really sure where the keys are) and I don't make myself sick with worry if its not in my direct line of sight at all times.
All that besides the point... It truly sucks when some lowlife who is too lazy/stupid/selfish to earn the stuff he wants steals it from someone who isnt.
