Heart Stopping BLT

Once in a Blue Moon I like to pretend that I’m still a 20 year old man and do something less than smart. Today was one of those days. I went to Crown Candy Kitchen, a St. Louis Landmark and tradition that is located in a less than desirable neighborhood with my wife and sisters. I ordered the BLT that came with chips for $8.99. The BLT has one pound of bacon on it. Like I said, less than smart, but DELICIOUS! Mmmmmm Bacon!! Yes, I ate the whole thing.

I think maybe it could use just one more piece of bacon and little less lettuce....

As long as you used light mayonnaise, then you should be OK.

...and with crispy bacon too! Too much bacon for me but I would order it and keep the extra bacon for another sandwich for later on. Just plain bread and bacon makes a tasty snack.

Now look what you did! That picture is making me hungry for an extreme Bacon with LT sandwich.

Roger on the bread and bacon alone - just need a layer of Miracle Whip on the bread

Reminds me of a local place that burned down a few years back.
They had a "big daddy" burger that was over a pound. It was a true heart
clogger but oh, so good!
I got one about once a year and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Now you've got me craving my semi annual BLT.
I'm waiting till my home grown 'maters are producing a little more.

The sandwich had to be at least a little bit healthy, it did have lettuce and tomato on it. BTW, they make a great chocolate malt to go with the BLT. They bring one of those silver metal cups/buckets that they mix the chocolate malt in to your table and leave it. You get about 2 and 1/2 malts from it. Is it any wonder they've been around for 100 years and thriving in a less than desirable location? To be honest I don’t know how they make money selling a BLT like that for $8.99.
We arrived for lunch at 11:00 AM and waited in line for 30 minutes before being seated. It’s not a very big place but it sure is popular. Here’s a shot I took while in line waiting to get in.

You can put bacon on a hubcap and make it edible.

There are places like that that serve oversize burgers and sandwiches like that all over DFW and a lot of the small towns around here.

A lot of them pile on the French Fries right between the bun or bread. You see a lot of them on Diners,Drive Ins, and Dives.

They are good, but in moderation IMO.

The malt in a bucket is a new one for me. I've seen peanuts in a bucket and I've seen beer in a bucket, but not a malt.

Hmmmm, Windows wallpaper. I don't think that would work for me, I'd be licking the screen all the time.

I've said many times-- cardboard would be pretty good if it's dipped in
good batter and deep fried!

You might want to come to the next Texas State Fair and set up a booth featuring your idea.

They deep fry everything there

AHAH! When I met DH, and during my first trip to his condo I opened his fridge and saw Miracle Whip!

Knew he was da man for me!

No mayo in our house! If'n ya don't like Miracle Whip, bring yer own mayo.
