She is feeling better. Still tired, but her pain meds have finally gotten balanced for her. She has started her therapy and while painful she is getting out of bed and will start very short walks this afternoon.
Her therapist says she is "On Track."
Thank you,
Lou and Laura

Now with that extra hardware, you may have to check your GCWR.

Glad to hear she's doing well.

Hey Lou....

Our best wishes to both you and Laura............get well quick Laura.

And Lou............you're a resourceful and creative guy. I'm sure, given time, you can figure our how having the two of you increase your RV-ing time can be considered a write-off medically as therapeutic rehab for that new joint. Climbing in and out of the rig has to be in the Rx from the doctor somewhere. If not............get a different doctor!!!!!!

I'm impressed, Herk! You are 24+ hours into this, and you haven't posted a parts list, vendors, surgical instructions, and photos for the DIY'ers on the fourm (yet!)....

Glad Laura is feeling better!!

My mistake.

"Using the joint" turned out to be a pneumatic "bender" that flexes her knee.
She was using that this afternoon.

We will see what the Maqui de Sade has in mind for tomorrow.

PS (I had to show the RN how to set it up)
What do they teach these kids?

Hi Lou, I read the quote the first time as Laura is a bit of a pain right now, etc.
I have had both my knees replaced. The knee is the largest joint in the body, so you can expect a LOT of pain with a replacement. Previous to the replacements I have had 9 surgeries on my knees. I think the therapists are a bit over enthusiastic. Lots of pain is not a gain. The therapy is to get you up and going asap. Being retired I was in no hurry. I would exercise to the point of just past hurting and quit. Rest, do it again. You have to bend that knee or it will heal with little bend and you end back up in the hospital for a revision. They knock you out, and force your knee into a bend, tearing the scar tissue, then you start all over again. The first 4 days at home I just rested until I could start exercising on my own. Good luck Laura, it is worth it in the end. By the way, I woke up twice during one of my replacement operations. It took over a month to get over the anxiety feelings. They do go away.
