HGTV Tiny House Show
Just watched a Tiny House being built on a stock car trailer. The cost was $30,000 for a 24 ft 11,000 lb tiny house. No stove, 5,000 btu window shaker and no heat. Get this they tow it away with a Ram 1500 and no weight distributing hitch. They were taking it to Texas.
So why not buy a Travel Trailer? Seems to be more practical.

The wife and I had the same thoughts when we first saw an episode of this show.

As someone deep in the tiny-home craze (with my cabin) I can explain the rationale.
They keep them trailer mounted as a way to avoid property taxes. An RV would fit the bill, but some people like to have more solid "residential" construction, and the flexibility of designing their own layout.
But I think the #1 reason is to have some cachet with the semi-hippie, tiny-home crowd. If you live in an RV, you are an RV'er to them, and that's just as bad as a 'mainstream homeowner'. But if you "build" a tiny home, you are hip and trendy and part of their sub-culture. You ought to see some of the crap they give other people who don't live in their preferred lifestyles. On one forum when I mentioned that I drive a Diesel Excursion and that my tiny-home was just a cabin for weekend use, I was practically ostracized.

are you really sure that is why they ostracized you? It really might be that SUV.

I watched one of the shows where they made a tiny home out of an old school bus, wouldn't that be a MH? Also there is a RV resort in Traverse City Michigan that is adding a section for just tiny homes.
