Hold onto that door!!!!!!!!!

Just wondered if anyone else has had this happen........

On the way to parking the RV, it was a little windy. Trees were blowing around and the RV was a bit of a handful........aerodynamics of a brick, wadda ya expect?

Once I was stopped, I went to get out of the RV, opened the door, and the wind tore it completely out of my hand. Pulled so strong it popped the gas strut off the door mount and bent the piston rod. It's actually a rather ingenious design of plastic and small metal clips that attach the two ends of the door strut. After some minor repairs and some straightening, all is as it was.

The handle on our door is really not much more than a place to hook a few fingers. Anyone else been caught off guard as to the wind's ability to grab the door and take it from your grip?????

Next time it's not dead calm.........grab on tight!!!!!!!!!

Yep. Hopefully it's a lesson I won't need to re-learn.

could get a handle from a hardware store and just some short screws and mount it inside somewhere where there is structure to attach to.

Yep...had that happen too on a previous TT I owned. Mine swung back and hit the rubber bumper so hard it pushed in the aluminum sidewall! That's one reason I added a Camco handle to the screen door because it gives something a bit sturdier to hold on to. This assumes that the outer door and screen door are latched together of course...

I wanna to get one of those for the screen door for casual use too Willis, but I'm not sure it would have been strong enough to stop the main door from being ripped out of my hands. The only connecting piece between the two doors is that little plastic latch on the handle of the screen door. If you don't have a hold on the real door, it doesn't much matter.

Not up to the match in the strong wind I suffered.

Well, as people in Joplin and many other places have found out this year...in a battle between nature and man...nature is going to win.
