Air temperature in Imperial, MO was -8 with a wind chill of Hell Froze Over. The Cardiac Rehab Unit is closed today so no session for me. Just as well, I wasn't going to go out this morning anyway.

Gawd! Now that's some cold. Please advise how one survives that. I believe it would obliterate the items in my freezer.

Central Ohio, 0 deg. F, going down to -7 F by 4 pm. Windchills are -30 F. All the snow missed us which is good. Working fire department today, hoping to stay indoors if public will let us. Wouldn't want to be up where Sasks is though. Bring in the brass monkeys.

24 right now, with WCF of 13
Tonight: low of 17
My pain management facility was open today, thankfully.
Already been in, slept for 2 hours under the influence of Versed while another brachial nerve ablation was done (regenerates after six months), then DH brought my "chemically inconvenienced" self home and cooked a nice breakfast for me.
I'm already back in my warm fuzzy jammies and about to head back to BED!
Y'all stay WARM! This kinda cold can kill.

Those are all pretty cold temperatures, but down here in South Louisiana, it was 27 degrees ambient temperature and projected to be 17 degrees tonight. Did I say that I am in SOUTH Louisiana!

Here in the Florida of Canada, we have hit the high for today 1 F/-17C and going down to -17F/-27C- tonight. High for tomorrow is -2F/-19C. Lots of snow to be had for free. I think my pain management will be 2 rum & cokes and I'll see somebody in the morning...maybe.

it's times like these that i just shake my head in regards to all the California bashing i constantly hear and see. people east of the Rockies are always saying that you have to be crazy to live in California, because of earthquakes.
the last time we had a significant earthquake disaster, was 20 years ago this month.
yet the Midwest has disasters every year, from severe thunderstorms to ice storms to large floods to blizzards to numerous tornadoes to extremely cold weather that's currently happening.
heck, a single tornado or hurricane has often killed more people than the Northridge earthquake did, which was the last big earthquake 20 years ago.
as i sat outside in 70 degree sunny weather yesterday, while the entire eastern U.S. was in deep freeze, i thought that i'm perfectly fine with having an earthquake every 20-30 years.
versus yearly disasters that i mentioned above.
by the way, here's a map of Presidential Disaster Declarations from 2000 to 2010. notice all the dark areas east of the Rockies.
http://www.dcoem.org/index.php/be-pr...ural-disasters
and people think that California is Disaster Central.

For me it's the riots, brushfires, mudslides, taxes, and poor immigration control. Oh and that Feinstien lady.
Just kidding with ya. You can pick apart any state if you try hard enough. I had a blast during my visits to California and look forward to returning someday.

bikendan it must be awful boring with no change of seasons. Look at all the exercise you can get with shoveling snow in the winter, raking leaves in the fall, hurting your muscles and body while doing that. Here in Canada, where I live, we are on the same latitude as northern California.
