You know you're in the mountains when the scenic hiking trail has the upcoming grade posted.

There was a report a few years ago about two Texans at the top of the Space Needle. One said to the other "If those damn mountains weren't in the way, it would be a great view from here."
So, if you can't see the view because it's blocked by those rocks with snow on them, you're in the mountains.

If I went half way and then turned around and came back that would make it 2 1/2 percent, I can handle that...

I'll have to keep this in mind the next time I'm towing the fifth wheel in the mountains. Those hills won't be nearly as steep. Thanks for the tip.

Cowracer, we were there last summer but didn't have the time, nor I the stamina with a bad hip to walk the distance to get to the Dome. It really looked cool. I'll make it next time there.

I'm afraid it literally means "This way to take pictures on a trail you will need a wheel chair for 5% of the time".

Don't bother.
there is an observation tower EXACTLY like the one on the dome over off the Foothills Parkway. Its a much easier climb, and you get, as close as makes no difference, the same view.
