Nope, I'm just "Ducky" with your OP and I do get it as well. I do not disagree with the point as a generalization either but I did feel that there is a lot of serious problems with drivers who lack skills/common sense who do not let that deter them from getting in the mix. I thought they deserve an honorable mention in this topic.
I also had a CDL in a younger day. I drove a fuel truck for the Govt. I don't think I need one for a 29' A as all it is is a bread truck on steroids. (I guess I'll hear about that LOL).
As for confidence in CDL licensee abilities,
I don't share that at all. The scariest near accident I was privileged to avoid was when an 18 wheeler pulled out of the super wide shoulder in front of me in the right lane doing 50 in a 55 with another 18 wheeler passing on my left. That caused a pucker factor of 10 and smoke from the Goodyears. Good thing my brakes we adjusted properly or I wouldn't be writing this today.
You also have to wonder what folks are thinking when they pass then pull in right in front of 70,000 lb trucks or RV's with Q-Tips at the wheel (I'll hear about that too but I are one) then hit their brakes!
Anyway, I just thought a bit of expanded discussion might be of benefit. Besides,
I'm the newly revised nice Ducky. So your good to go! ROFL
