Ice Road Truckers

Looks like the new season of IRT is now running on the History Channel.

Looks to me that they are trying to impress the cameras. Taking that much weight in that cold of conditions over those rutts just not work. Except for the cameras.

Those truck & trailer frames not take that. No one in their right mind would abuse equipment like that. But it is a show I guess. Ha

Whether it's fluff or not has been discussed ever since the show debuted. I'm thinking they can't fake everything, but probably some scenes are real.

I don't see anything about the tractors/trailers being build for that kind of use in cold weather. Maybe they just use them and then trash them.

Real or not - ain't no way this guy is driving anything over a frozen lake.

I used to watch the first few seasons and thought it was good. Haven't wAtched in a few years. I still think it's nuts when I go up to upstate New York for ice fishing and they drive on the lakes. The hwy dept drives the large dump with plow right on down the boat ramp and plow the lake. They even use studded tires on stock cars and race up and down the lake. I had a hard enough time just walking out the first few times. I do know you won't see me in my truck out there!

Born and raised in upstate ny and I never did either. Maybe that's one reason I'll celebrate my 74th birthday tomorrow
