Wind is a Crap Shoot you have to live with! The (Support Poles) are (Needed,Required) if you are going to put(Sun Shades ,Heavy lights,Potted plants,Ect.) on your roller tube! They come in handy for (People Support) also ,like Wheezer said! Youroo!! Nobody (Makes) you use them!
OC, not sure that I like that configuration..... go back to the drawing board and come up with something better. Something that does not pull the fabric down at an angle at the same time it is pulling the fabric out.
Youroo also makes a good point - we didn't often use awning lights because of the extra time it took to roll up the awning. But now I get bonus "honey points" for hanging her Mickey lights.

Used ours twice since I installed the brackets. I have the painter polls and ratchet tie downs. I expect they will hold up pretty good. What I don't expect is for the tie downs to hold against 50 mph wind gust. OC's brackets will still be there regardless or the wind.

Nothing else to hook to and it doesn't hurt the material.
All I can say about the person who made the comment..."there's one in every crowd". Haven't had the chance to install mine yet, but after watching our friends electric awnings dance around last year at the lake, I'll have mine installed before we go to the lake in June.
