Let'm Race!! NASCAR ...

Let me first say, don't mean any disrespect to those Joey Lagano fans out there, but that's race'n!
For a moment there I thought the yellow#20 car was the old "Black" #3, and He'd get out of the car with that big ol smile on his face and wave to the fans!!! He'd say,"Hell Ya, I meant todo it"!!
How many of us just became a little more excited about the sport after watching that race cause that's what NASCAR racing was? Short track, beaten, banging, I'll be gun'n for ya next race attitude with all the drivers!Bring back "The Rock" and North Wilksboro!! Man, I miss that type of racing, best car, best driver wins!!

Weigh in!!
Good ole conversation!!

I have to admit that I was cheering in my livingroom as loudly as those fans at the track. Loved it!

Dang, I missed it... Gave up on NASCAR because it became so booring.... Haven't watched a race in quite a while. I bet though the geniuses at NASCAR will probably fine the heck out someone who made it fun to watch.. Lawyers, big money payouts, liability now rule the sport, plus everyone has to run the same car. Don't care to support anymore and I live 70 miles from Daytona Beach..

I also miss the old rivalries. What I don't miss is the way drivers (and spectators) died 'back in the day'.

Back in the day? How about just a few years back at Daytona... It is a dangerous sport no doubt for drivers and sometimes fans but it has become so mundane and boring to watch.

they need to take the word stock car out of the name...

Once again, NA$CAR has shot itself in the foot by catering the to corporations rather than the fans. If Kenseth was in the next race, you would see viewership jump.

I gave up on NASCAR years ago when they hired some higher-up yahoo (I dont remember his name or what is position was) who said in an interview "My goal is to provide the best product for our customers, and the best exposure for our corporate partners".

Product!?!? All ya all do is sanction races. You don't 'make' anything. NASCAR will never see its popularity return to its golden days, unless they start thinking of the fans first, last, and only.

That wasn't rubbing that was crashing. What Logano did at Kansas reminded me of Sr, not Matinsville.

Logano got what was coming to him. From a fans perspective the 2 race suspension was worth it

Wasn't so much what happened on the track at Kansas as it was the way Joey was talking and acting off the track. Talking how Matt should have raced harder and more aggressively. He wanted more aggressive he got more aggressive. Then after Joey wrecking today he is seeing his behavior getting the best of him. Maybe if he would have behaved a bit differently he would be going for the championship.

I don't know of any racing series that uses "stock" cars except maybe the 6 cylinder and under series at our local tracks. The "Stock Car" label probably wasn't accurate the first time it was used! Stock body and chassis maybe, but definitely lots of mods to make 'em go faster.

Engines could be blueprinted but had to be stock configurations available on showroom models---Ford 427s, Chrysler 426 wedges and street hemis, Chevy 396 and 427 "rat" motors, Pontiac 421s and such. The cars had stock interiors ripped out down to a single bucket seat and the dashboards were still in place. The thing was, you knew Lorenzen was out there in an actual Ford, Johnson in an actual Chevy and Petty in an actual Plymouth. And you could buy the models and engines they raced, which was why Plymouth had to make those Superbirds with the pointy noses and big wings--if they didn't sell it they couldn't race it. And that was cool.

Now the cars are like funny cars from late 60s drag racing--custom chassis and engines with a phony body that bears a resemblance to a real car. Might as well be Formula 1 racing but with no corners. Not cool.
