Locks on propane compartments
My last storage place for my 5th wheel started having issues with theft. I had put locks on my propane tanks and a week later on a check up visit my compartment doors where propane tanks are stored were standing open. The locks prevented them from being taken. I recently switched to a storage place about 5 miles from my house. It is gated and the ground is paved. However, their main rentals for storage are buildings with garages. Someone tried to get my tanks their as well. Has anyone switched out locks on their storage compartment doors that take a key (751) ? There are two latches on the door now. I was thinking about switching one out to a lock and key. Any thoughts on the subject?

Take the tanks out and store them at home, some states may have a law against locks on the Propane storage doors in the event of a fire.

May be illegal, but I put what I call 'pop machine' type locks on my propane compartment doors. The keys are tube type.

It is against the "Codes/Laws" to have Locks on Propane!  Youroo!!  Contact your Local Fire Inspector!

X3 Do not lock the propane compartment doors !!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT can get someone injured or killed the fire dept. must have unlocked access.............

Don't think one lock on a two latch door will keep anyone out that needs to get in considering the flimsy doors. I think I'll keep them like they are.

True but there is a legal reason that the doors do not come with locks and are marked propane.................

Mine came with the labels...........  probably made a bad assumption that they all did

I've never owned a trailer but have owned a few motorhomes and everyone of them (different manufacturers) had a PROPANE decal affixed to the outside of the applicable door. Of course it was easy to tell, it was the only one without a key lock. Just saying. Maybe no outside PROPANE decals on a door is a trailer thing.

Neither door to the propane tanks have propane markers on them.

Maybe I'll alter a spring loaded handle like that on a gooseneck hitch. It's not a lock. Only I will know about it. A would be thief will turn the thumb knob on the latch and it won't open.

Ever seen an rv fire? Least of the concern is a door lock on a propane cylinder door.. LOL
By the time they get there the door will be gone! If it is a leak issue, I got a universal key in my trunk.. A Halligan Bar.
That said, I would not lock the door but that is me.
