Looking at buying Honda Pioneer 700-4... Thoughts?

I have been researching the Honda Pioneer 700-4 for a little bit now. Also looked into the 1000. Do any of you have the 700? What are your thoughts? I have 3 guys that I know who have bought them and love them, but I have yet to drive either. Just looking for suggestions. The 700 will fit for sure in our toy hauler, the 1000 would be close, especially on weight with everything else we have in the hauler garage. Wanting to know how much crap the 700 could take? I have an older Honda Rubicon 4 wheeler and it has ran flawlessly over the past 8 years. We even have an almost 30 year old Honda 350 4wheeler that still runs like a champ. We are fairly loyal to Honda for their ATVs. Thanks in advance for the help!!

The 700 would be fine in every way, unless you are looking for outright performance. It ought to run in the high 40s for top speed, and would have plenty of grunt to haul 4 people across just about any terrain. Now if all your friends have 900xp Ranger, or 1000 Can-am's you may wish for a bit more power to keep up. I have an 800 Odes, and we ride with some people in our group that have 570 Rangers, and they keep up just fine. The 1000 is physically bigger and would be more comfortable for 4.. ahem... "full size" Americans.

Depending on how you want to use it, would make the difference on whether to go to the 1000. If its normally you and one other, and you just like trail riding or running around, then the 700 is more than enough. If you always take 4, and you like running sand dunes, then you should get the 1000.

As far as reliability? It's a Honda. nuff said.

I like mine. Fits in next to the Harley.

Thanks Tim. We ended up going with the 700. It will be for goofing off in the neighborhood and hunting. Some of the terrain at our hunting property is a little nasty. I wasn't sure if the 1000 wild be too heavy and sink. Plus it is a good bit bigger and getting that monster in the toyhauler would be really tight. Also not too sure it would get they the skinny trails hunting either. Although the 1000 is a very impressive machine for sure.

Here is our choice... Still working on getting all of the extras installed on it.

Nice! I like the color, but for some reason, I always picture Hondas as red. It's cool that it's a 4 seater, but still has a very short wheelbase. My Odes is like driving a city bus around in the woods.

Nice lookin unit! The toy hauler is 10ft long and the 700 is about 9'6" or close to it. The 1000 was 9'10" or so. I didn't want to push it. I really wanted green or camo, the 2016 models only offer red blue or camo and I got $1600 off for taking blue. The camo was $600 more on the base cost and they wouldn't budge. They offered me $1000 off on the blue one. It's just the hood, so I said what the hell. I like $1600 more than a hood color!! I need short wheel base.. The place we hunt is nasty in places with swamps.

You could probably have someone wrap the hood in camo for under 100 bucks or so. I personally detest camo (i don't hunt), so I got white one to match my truck.

I thought about that and I know someone that can do it. Just not even really sure it matters. The blue is starting to grow on me.
