Looking for Retirement Places
Hi,
Anyone living in the Southern half of Iowa, maybe around the Rathbin Lake area? Maybe Northern Missouri? Wife & I are comtimplating finding a retirement area to relocate to. Don't need much in amenities. Rural living is fine with us. Maybe 10 acres, close to creek/river, close to a gun range.

It is to cold in the places that you mention. We do the UP of MI in the summer and TX and Florida in the winter. We would not want to spend the winter in any part of Iowa.

And in the Summer you are at the center of Tornado Alley.

Not Arkansas. We have mosquitoes, and tornadoes, and Democrats, and Republicans, and Farmers, and rednecks, and hunters, and fishermen, and trees, and gnats, and snakes, and a bunch of rocks. Not here, trust me. I hear Florida is nice. Alabama. Maybe Georgia.

We've been checking out places in Tennessee. Tired of Wisconsin winters.

Middle TN, the center part of the state, with Nashville as the main city is a beautiful area; however, it is VERY humid and hot in the summer. Eastern part is also rather humid but not as hot. Had a home there for seven years, loved it, but you have to like to sweat! However, it was third on my list for retirement places when I decided to "really" retire from Moab.

Wyoming has low sales tax, no income tax, only 500,000 people and as of today $1.99 gasoline. The summers are mild but the winters are cold and the wind blows. Oh, wait, we have 500,001 people now so we are running out of room...

We gave up Maryland three years ago. Too many taxes, laws, rules, Democrats.......
Moved to SE Kentucky. Live 5 miles out of town, property costs real reasonable. Low taxes, carry your gun on Main Street, try to take these peoples guns..., greatest people you ever met, no auto inspection, middle of the country...head any direction on an Interstate, oh did I mention that we like it here?
Good luck with your search, we spent 6 months traveling TN, GA, KY, NC, VA. This place got laid in our laps one day. You will find your place too.
Travel safe

We live in Iowa and can't wait to retire and travel. We might spend summers here but not winters. I've lived in CR for 18 years and I probably have 10-15 more to go. The cold really gets to me, especially my hands. I have bad veins.
