Medical Emergency in Alaska
Our Alaska trip may be about over. My wife Gretchen had a sudden debilitating pain in her midsection yesterday afternoon 6/8/16 and I had to try to call 9-1-1 which wouldn't go through so I was able to call the Tok Village RV front desk who got the EMT's coming. Pretty fast response time and a real good crew of four people, an ambulance and a State Trooper.
They took her to their station clinic which has a well stocked treatment area. Got her some morphine for the pain and were looking at possible gall bladder attack.
The upshot was a fixed wing flight to Fairbanks ER leaving me to break camp at 9:30 pm and me and the dog did a late night run up Moose Alley to Fairbanks with on stop for a fast nap.
Diagnosis was a bad bowel problem caused by sitting in the truck all day and not moving or walking enough. Got her released about 0430 and we went to Riverview Park and got her inside. She is still pretty miserable so we have to see if she can continue on or fly home while I figure out what to do.
She's a little round gal and will sit in the truck all day then wait while I drop and setup the trailer before she moves in and sits in her recliner. Just 50 yeas old but a total mess mentally and emotionally. Please pray for us that we may finish this trip and come through still married.
The best part is the medical people are good here and a real mixed lot a little rough around the edges but really top notch.

Sorry to hear about Gretchen's problem, one of the best things for her is for you to start walking around the camp grounds with her. I hope you both get to finish your trip

My gal Gretchen passed away this evening at Fairbanks Banner Memorial hospital. Now to figure out the details and figure out the rest of my life.
