Messy camper clean camper?
I am just curious about how everyone keeps their camper when camping? We camp with a big group and it's fun to see how the different campers and sites are kept.

I voted first. I picked the kids one. We used to keep our motorhome really clean when our daughter was younger. Now that all the kids are at that a 5-10 years old (about 6-8 kids on a trip) range they seem to leave a mess behind everywhere they go. We try to put everything away as they go through, but it becomes more work than it's worth. We just pick up before we go to sleep at night.

Its a subjective thing. Its just the DW and myself. To me our camper looks cluttered, to her it looks fine. I've learned just to roll with it.

We like to keep it picked up, a place for everything and everything in its place. However when the grandkids are with us all rules go out the window and we survive.

My Wife goes overboard. I dare not leave anything messed up. I can, however, make reasonable messes in the coach basement. If it gets too bad and she happens to look, then out comes the vacuums, scrub water, etc....
It was tough getting used to that.

I voted 'Fairly picked up'. DW and I have a difference of opinion on this. I hang my jacket up in the closet, hers is put over one of the dinette chairs, etc. I do dust and vacuum once a week. I like the dishes put away instead of just left in the drying rack.

While we are camping we are usually in a constant state of organized chaos.
2 dogs, 3 kids and however many additional friends the kids brought with. We just try to make sure everything is wiped down, swept up and put away when we leave on Sunday.

DW manages this situation. Sometimes I'll put my shoes at the end of the bed in our 5th wheel and she will move them to the side of the bed and near the nightstand cabinet.
Me: "Why did you move my shoes?"
DW: "To get 'em out of sight. If someone comes in, they can see 'em under the end of the bed."
Me: "Who's coming?"
DW: "No one that I know of... but you never know who'll show up."
Me: "Uh... OK."
I marked the B answer.

I would like it cleaner than it usually is, but with a very active 4yr old and now a dog, I would consider it "messy". One thing that bothers me is the drying dishes. Our floor plan has the sink in the center island. This pretty much means that we continually have a "drying dish centerpiece" precisely in the middle of our trailer at nearly all times. May start drying them with a towel instead...but who wants more work when camping?
Oh yeah...and unfortunately our trailer doesn't have a good place to store shoes/coats by the entry/exit (closet, etc.). That's one of my few complaints about our model.

My answer is - "It depends on who you're talking to, me or the missus."

Could you cut up one of these and hang it on a wall?

We're a B, because everyone's shoes will be by the door, and a towel to wipe our Basset's paws. The dog's quilt/ bed covers most of the carpeted area. The 5er is depreciating daily. No excuse for not doing what I can to make things last. And I use as much of the info from this forum as I can, so thanks for all the contributions. I might like to add other methods to our routine, which would be a neat thread. What's your routine? An idea. Anyway, adding the red devil vac. has been great.

Had to go with B... There just isn't enough room to be really "comfortable" in our A-Frame.

I'm really a clean freak so it has to be nearly perfect. I'm claustrophobic and clutter makes me very anxious. It's really easy though. We have a large 40' Cardinal and just for the two of us it's got a lot of storage...way more than we use, actually.

TOWTA is pretty adamant about keeping the house and trailer neat and picked up. That's why I stay out doors (weather permitting) while camping and in my garage when we're home, besides that, can't smoke in the 5er or the house, so I am relegated to the outside or the garage.
