Now that all the snow is gone, I'm trying to get the yard cleaned up from having wood cut and split in the back yard. I can't hardly walk around the yard though for all the mole tunnels. My cane keeps sinking and if I fall, I'll have to lie there until 911 gets there to get me up. Any way to get rid of these critters?

I have caught 2 of little boogers this spring with this: Tomcat Mole || Kill, Capture, and Repel Moles

At 1st, I wasn't very impressed with the trap. It is hard to set. I had to use a shovel to 1st make a groove where the jaws go. The 1st time I set it, it was in the ground about a week, and I was thinking of moving it to a new location. I was near by when a mole decided to travel that tunnel, and heard the trap go off. The 2nd mole tripped the trap within about an hour of setting the trap.

An important step is to make sure the tunnel is active 1st. I can't find an active tunnels now, so hopefully those 2 were the only moles in my yard.

Agree, but that also kills the earthworms, which are beneficial.

The problem with moles is that they mostly eat earthworms, which are everywhere. So, grub control and whatnot doesn't work.

Gotta catch the bloody buggers and get rid of them before they can have too many litters (and these things breed like rabbits).

Most of the spreadable granules do nothing than force the moles out of your yard - to your neighbor's yard. I prefer not to do that. Eventually, if I don't treat my yard in a timely manner, they will ultimately find their way back.

While my DW would like for me to be as humane as possible (traps, forcing out of the yard, etc) I prefer the more drastic measures. There are no return offenders if done my way. And right now, they've got me pretty well torqued-off with all the mounds and trails they generated during the winter under the snow.
