My Feelings are Hurt.

OK, I will be turning 67 next month and I know I donít look like a kid anymore, but I hate it when Iím automatically given a seniors discount at a restaurant. Donít get me wrong, I like getting a discount but I wish they would at least ask how old I am. I am offended by the automatic ďold fartĒ discount. Would it hurt to pretend I donít look my age?

As my old granddad use to say, "Some people would gripe if they were hung with a new rope."

You think you feel bad. I am 45 and keep getting AARP membership applications.

When I was 52 I was asked "would you like your senior discount" when I was checking into a hotel while traveling on business. Quite sobering. Now - 10 years later nobody ever asks, they simply give me the discount. I guess gray hair not only makes you look distinguished...but OLD.

OH NO you don't. I'm not posting a photo and open myself up to a bunch of snide comments. I might be dumb, but I'm not stupid.

I hope this is a tongue in cheek message!
I'm not the least bit offended when someone wants to save me
money due to my age. I can't get in the habit of asking for senior
discounts and often forget.
McDonalds gives a senior discount on drinks but I always forget to ask.
(Lately they are 99Ę for all sizes so it doesn't matter.)

I sell tickets at one of the main gates for our Kentucky State Fair.
I kinda like meeting the public and even tho the hours are long and the
pay is only a notch over minimum wage I do it for a change of pace.
I often ask folks if anyone in the car is over 55.
Many times they look surprised and say things like "do I LOOK that old???"
If they fess up and say yes I grin and say "half price!!!"
That usually puts the smile back on their faces.
55 is pretty low age for "senior discount".

I'll take the discount any way I can get it.

I am 53 years old with a 17 month old daughter. I wish people would stop calling me the "Proud Grandpa".
I really get it when my 25 year old son is with me. He sticks up for Dad and says "She is not my daughter she is my sister!"
He says it with attitude.
