So sorry to hear your loss. I lost a colleague 3-4 years ago (I had rather not remember exactly when, I cut a Christmas/new year camping trip down south short and drove back home&work) and it still hurts when I remember. Prayers for you and his family ...Life is short, too short.

I'm sorry ~ that is so hard to take. You are correct. Make every day count. I once worked for a neuro; we had a patient with a terminal illness. She had the most amazing personality and outlook on life. One day I worked my nerve up to asking her what her secret was. She smiled and said "It's easy. Promise me you'll make it home for dinner tonite." I told her I could not do that. She said, "see, you and I both need to make every moment count". She was right, as are you.

Wishing you comfort and peace ~~~

So sorry to hear of your loss. Coworkers are just like family. We spend as much, if not more time with them than family. My sincere condolences to you and your friend's family.

Sorry to hear about your loss also. Same thing happened to me in 2011. I lost 5 people in 6 months. My godmother, mother, my work partner in Canada - her mother, my best friend (also a guy I worked with) and then his brother.

In 2013, (actually in the last 3 weeks) 4 people I work with have lost their parents or their wife's parents. Average age at my work is 49 so it is normal for them to be losing their parents simply due to old age.

So yes life is short, enjoy some of it now because if you save everything until you are retired, you may be in poor health shortly afterwards and blow all your money on health care instead of enjoying life and working on your bucket list, etc. It's why I bought my RV now, instead of 10 years from now. Besides, 10 years from now the good ol USA is going to be a very different place I am guessing.
