NASCAR Sprint series finale--spoiler alert

There used to be some NASCAR fans and some rather lively NASCAR discussions on the forum in the past. How many of you guys are watching today and which guy are you pulling for? This is the best shot my guy Harvick has had at it since he joined the series after Earnhardt's death in 2001. I'm hoping for some good racing/passing and not just that typical following the leader around the track as has become the norm. Gentlemen start your engines!

Will be watching but not excited by the new changes to the Chase format! I do hope Harvick can get it for you! I would like to see a winner take it and not someone who just places in the pack somewhere. I think NASCAR really needs to revisit their poor decision by allowing a possible non-winner to take the championship!

Oh yea! I'm also not a fan of this format and am rooting for Newman. Dale
junior is my driver but a blown rt front tire at Kansas took him out. Goin to Phoenix next spring again. They do a great job of supporting the camping crowd and its my nearest track. Enjoy your day, stay warm and eat well!!!

After the last Hendrick's hopeful Jeff Gordon got squeezed out last week, I lost interest. When two weeks ago Jeff was running a good race for the points and then Brad puts an end to it. BAM! And then to lose out by one point last week. It's like watching the Super Bowl and your team didn't make it there. More reason to party hardy and focus less on the race.

Hamlin does have two wins at Homestead/Miami and others are zero! Advantage Hamlin! I would like to hope this race doesn't end up with collateral damage caused by a non chase driver! NASCAR needs a four car shootout if it would make this system they have created work best. These guys, especially Newman, have a huge task today! They are running each other with 39 other party crashers!

They will definitely need to address how Newman snuck into the final group with no race wins. That was the whole point of revamping the end of the season was to reward wins. I like the fact that each race counts, it keeps you at the edge of your seat vs the points leader coasting for the last few weeks on the way to the championship.

elind I think what you say may be my sentiments as well! I really find myself hoping the new champion finishes 39th with others behind him! That I understand is very unlikely but it is a possibility that they finish poorly and a champion doesn't have a single win for the season! That sure isn't the NASCAR I want to watch!

Actually, I would say that Phoenix is Harvick's track. I'm concerned that Homestead has never really been a strong track for Harvick. I too think Hamlin might have an advantage as those Gibbs cars are a well rounded group of cars no matter where they go. Perhaps divine intervention will lend a hand....or maybe someone will pull a Clint Bowyer! Lol

NASCAR is not what it use to be. It is influence by the Family so it can be adjusted on who are their favorites

Would it be a HOOT that the 4 contenders had a big wreck in the first 10 laps!! Then we could watch a good real race for the 'season' winner.

Interesting, senecio. It would then become a race to see who of the four could repair their car the fastest and get back out and log laps.

Good to see the "Rocket Man" in the thick of things. He's always been a competitor and a humble guy.

Listening to each of these guys I think Hamlin & Harvick are best poised to grab this thing! Hopeful that the four of them can stay clear of the other 39 blockades! I like really like Newman but I am afraid that he just doesn't have the momentum to get there.

Personally I disliked the Chase, but now that they made it an elimination arrangement, thus adding desperation instead of quietly chasing points, I actually like it.

I'd like to see them carry it further, the last four races are nothing but the top 16, then 12, then 8, then a four car 50-100 lap finale just like the showdown. Finishing order determines the championship.

I've given up on all ball sports. Don't watch em. NASCAR is all I got left and no matter how the chase is determined, I still watch it dang near every Sunday. Its when I cook and enjoy time with the misses. Its like when folks were sayin that if Johnson wins another championship, they were giving up on NASCAR. Hey, what ever you wana do, as nothing is perfect. They are trying to keep things interesting even if I don't agree with this format. So grab a cold one (or a hot toddy) fire up the grill and lets go racin!

Although the final four will need to steer clear of the "Big One" most likely it will be that little bump that derails the run for these guys. We have 39 other guys trying to hang on to or acquire a better ride for next year. That alone will cause them to push the envelope and take someone out of the race.

I like this format. There is more of reason to be racing now. Winning now gets you something, to include racking to the end of the race instead of like in the past where you could lay back on the last few races and finish in whatever spot you needed to in order maintain your series lead. I'm a Gordon fan, and have been since his first race as a rookie. I was a "rookie" at the time, watching the 1993 Daytona 500 and he was the first rookie announced in the starting lineup, so I chose him. I now have an infield campsite for the 500 and a backstretch campsite at Chicagoland. Rooting for Harvick today.

I wonder if flaring my TT fenders like Hamlin and Logano would improve mileage and downforce???
