Yesterday I bought a new portable external hard drive to back up my new computer. It’s a Western Digital and here is a photo of the complete set of instructions that came with it. Three pictures and that’s it. They didn’t even bother with written instructions.

Bob, usually you can just plug that sucker into a USB port and start using. They usually come formatted and are powered from the USB port. I have 2 that work that way. But, do notice that I said "usually" a couple of times.

Don't worry, at least it still needed instructions! I would tell you that it's idiot proof, but as soon as a manufacturer makes a completely idiot-proof product, we will find a better idiot!

Yes, that exactly what I did Wayne. I bought the Western Digital because there was a Windows 8 label on it. God knows Win 8 doesn't play well with some hardware and software. The new external drive has 1.5 Terabytes of storage. I doubt that I'll ever need that much storage.
