I agree, it is getting out of control.

Since no one else bothered, I just thought I'd post a couple of key provisions of the Ohio law (emphasis added):

(B) No person shall knowingly design, build, construct, or fabricate a vehicle with a hidden compartment, or modify or alter any portion of a vehicle in order to create or add a hidden compartment, with the intent to facilitate the unlawful concealment or transportation of a controlled substance.
(C) No person shall knowingly operate, possess, or use a vehicle with a hidden compartment with knowledge that the hidden compartment is used or intended to be used to facilitate the unlawful concealment or transportation of a controlled substance.
(D) No person who has been convicted of or pleaded guilty to a violation of aggravated trafficking in drugs under section 2925.03 of the Revised Code that is a felony of the first or second degree shall operate, possess, or use a vehicle with a hidden compartment.

As far as (D) goes - perhaps vehicle manufactures should be required to post notices or warnings that their vehicle does or does not have a hidden compartment (s).

I'm all in favor of sensible and fair law enforcement, but this law has many loopholes in it that need to be closed.

If the vehicle comes from the factory with a "hidden compartment", it's not actually "hidden" because the compartment is made known to the public through manufacturer, manual, and dealer.

Not sure on that - when we brought our 2012 Ram, the dealer didn't mention anything about the two well compartments behind each front seat and neither did the manual or manufacturer.

Could those two little compartments be considered "hidden" because they were both beneath floor mats that had to be lifted in order to access them?

B47, I think they can tell factory built from custom built, plus they could check another vehicle of the same make and model to verify.

Just another loophole - I'm done with this thread. You all carry on.
