Old timers- WHAT IS IT???
I'm cleaning out my parents garage. Whatever this is, it has been in the garage for at least 45 years....
1x1 wood poles. It has 1 inch measurements on one side of several of the poles, along with nails - pointy side out also at 1 inch increments. Looks like it hinges together somehow. Has "Quaker" printed on one pole. Due to lack of time, I have not tried to assemble it and left it tied up. Does not appear to be damaged in any way.
My best guess is that it is somehow used for weaving or possibly quilting.
Anyone know for sure? Is it likely worth anything to anyone?

Without pics I'm going to guess that it's a quilting frame or a frame for making latch hook rugs..

Quilting frame. Grandmother and I used to make 'em on those things. Yep, I helped!
I'll give you three dollars.

It's a curtain stretcher.. women used to set these up in the backyard on a sunny day and stretch their freshly washed curtains on them to dry... no need to iron !

Curtain stretcher was my 2nd choice............
LOL
Quilting frame hung from the ceiling. When not in use, just pull it up tight to the ceiling. I actually can't remember one not in that position........but I sure thought that was what that was.
We didn't have curtains. We were so poor when I was growing up that they couldn't afford any clothes for me. When I was three, Mama bought me a hat so I could look out the window!!
Ka-boom. LOL
Sort of like those blue jean stretchers......made before 'sanforizing'.......we'd buy blue jeans one size too big, put 'em on, go jump in the pond, wear them dry, wash them ONE time, put on a blue jean stretcher, and set them in the corner to dry. After that, Mama wasn't allowed to wash them EVER! After a while they stood up when we laid down at night!

A curtain stretcher would not have measurements printed on the frame. These is absolutely a quilting frame. My grandmother had one just like it.

It is a curtain stretcher, my Mom had one and we used it all the time and it had numbers on it. You could put several curtains on it at the same time, one on top of the others with the larger ones put on first. Did it at least 2x a year.

I guess some people used them for a number of task, but my mother and grandmother used it for making quilts and my sister uses it today for quilts.
