Actually certain airport codes can be mistaken for other meanings - FAT for the Fresno, CA airport and SAT for the San Antonio, TX airport are two that come to mind. - I am sure there are others.

ORD, is the code for O'Hare airport in Chicago. It started life as Orchard Field.

Yes I and probably millions of other people are aware that ORD is the airport code for Chicago' O'Hara International airport and I am aware of its origin.
Actually the letter "k" was added as the first letter in airport codes by some aviation body several years ago - not sure when or the body that did it, so actually it is now KORD.
I am referring to the different meanings airport codes can have e.g. FAT and SAT and even BWI as British West Indies or in airport code lingo Baltimore Washington International. BWI is not a proper word like FAT or SAT.
