That pic was about 2 hours ago. It is flat coming down now!!! OC' s poles have save my awning and most everything under it. We went over to Mayport Navy Base and got a close up look of the carrier and the bottom fell out. Came back to a river running through the site. It was very windy and heavy rain. Support poles working like a champ!!

OC does good work - just doesn't get all the credit he deserves sometimes

Question - those Navy carriers have always impressed me - does that carrier in the pic have its full compliment of aircraft aboard?

Yes it does. We were about 200 yards from it when we went to the base. I should have gotten a picture. I pulled the number up on the Internet to see what ship it was. USS Dwight D. Eisenhower CVN 69 home port, Norfolk, VA.

Thanks - as I said before, those carriers have always been of interest to me.

Two years ago my sons and I went to San Diego and toured the USS Midway. It's amazing the size and engineering that went into that machine and I realize that is one of the older ones.

Of course one bomb from a B52 could send it to the bottom

I think the USS Yorktown in Charleston, SC is the same class as the Midway. I have toured her several times and spent several nights on board as a Boy Scout when I was younger. Spent a night on board with my son when he was a Cub Scout. It is amazing. It's amazing the manpower on board and the ships full capabilities. Makes me proud to be an American!!! It is a powerful image sitting off the coast of a foreign country!!!

Right on - The Midway has what seems to me acres of open space below deck - separate dining halls, barber shops, medical facilities, post office, etc. And just where do they carry all that fuel?

And I never knew that Marines were and I assume still are carried on board the carriers.

I heard a joke about why the Marines are carried, but I won't post it here.

I'm sure I've heard it! I mean as a retired Marine, I've pretty much heard most inter service jokes. I.e., MARINE means My *ss Rides In Navy Equipment. And, yes, the Marines are in the Department of the Navy......the men's department!!

We got Glenn's stab jack legs reinforced, 2 sets of awning pole attaching brackets mounted, 1 set of polished awning poles mounted and his tire ramp brackets mounted on the back bumper and the step brace installed. He is going to move the poles from 1 awning to the other until I can find some more alum pole material.

Pictures for FT Turbs!

Have to install 2 awning locks tomorrow and that will complete the mods.

Triple Saaawwweeeeeeettt!!!! By the way OC, what kind of reinforcing did you do with the stab legs? I was thinking of something back there myself and have several ideas, but would like to see yours. Or as Turbs would put it, you show me yours, and I'll show you mine!

Took a pc of 2-1/2" x 1/8" sq tubing 26" long and split it length wise and made (2) 2-1/2 x 1-1/4 C channels, measured back 5" on both ends, notched and bent it down 8°, welded the notch and cut it straight and skip welded it to the outside of each leg and across the ends. If you look at Glenn's you will see that the legs are thicker with tapered ends. The added pcs are just below the strut bolts.
