I've been running with the grill cover whenever the temps drop under 25. Makes it really nice when you can hit the remote start in the morning and between the cover, plugged in, and high idle switch, it's nice and toasty within the first 8 minute cycle even at -5.

I don't really have to worry about a grill cover, or plugging in the Ram. It really doesn't get that cold here. It's cold to me, but nothing like you folks are dealing with. I do like the remote start, mine idles up within the first couple minutes and the seat and steering wheel warmers rock. I can only imagine that I'd like them even better if I were in a colder climate. We had 26 degrees last night here and that is cold for us!! Heat pump struggles and we aren't used to having to drip faucets, and protect plants. Had a valve on my well freeze the last cold snap.

O..k... Don't have any FANCY remote steering ,or rear end warmers. Just a pleather grill cover. Maybe next time,I can make a better deal. Rather than on the other side of country,trying to convince the sales mgr, there is nothing wrong with the old ford, we just thought it was a good idea to get a new trk while we are out driving around....ah huh.. Lol Next time!!
Oh and next time may be soon, we've had it 7 mo, now has 22000 mi At that rate,a yr-2...Ouch !

RB,
I hear ya! I bought my 2011 ram used with 21,000 miles. I just hit 51,000 miles yesterday. I'm not too worried about it though. I plan to drive it to atleast 300k. I couldn't have afforded all the fancy stuff if I'd have bought new. Well, technically I could have afforded it, but just couldn't swallow that kind of price tag. You made the right choice. It's a great truck and pulls my rig beautifully!

<sigh> Still learning on my "Training Diesel." The truck would not start the other day; just a grunt and then nothing. I thought the battery was dead or the fuel had gelled.
Turned out (since I NEVER have used the block heater) that the oil was so cold it would not move. Plugged it in for an hour and it started right up.
<Brrrrr....>
Then I learned the remote start won't work with the hood unlatched.
Then I learned there IS a high idle setting in the computer!

Ya, it's not had...."nock on wood". A hiccup,and pulls like crazy. I was just rattl'n yr cage.Most likely I'll keep it,but when it gets around 50-60,000 I'll have to see how it trades. Then decide. Do think a leveling kit,air bags,wheels n tires,window tint,will be in order this summer.

These comforts are niceties, but definitely not necessities. I wasn't looking, but rather interested in the deals that were going on at the time. That's when I found this truck and at a price I couldn't pass up, let alone what they were giving me for my '11 2500. My wife wouldn't even ride in the truck for the first 2 weeks because she thought it was excessive and unnecessary. She has since come to terms with the deal and loves the truck, or loves the fact that she has open pockets on a new vehicle for herself.

Just received I weird phone call on the land line we've never had before.
It was a recording from the cedar county engineer stating there was a winter weather advisory in effect till noon monday for 7+ inches of snow and high winds resulting in blizzard conditions including drifting and white outs.
Never had a call like that before.

Your tax dollars at work. They must have some kind of new advisory system. I would think most people would be aware of weather conditions via TV, radio, or smart phone advisories.

Heading to Moline, IL tomorrow to see an old friend who is terminally ill. Other than cold, Turbs, what's the weather supposed to be in the Quad Cities?
