Howdy my Phat phuzzy phine proggy phriends!

Yes we were out camping this past weekend. Had some fun on the drive down to Bisbee...A service truck ahead of us droped a 1 foot galvenized steel pipe in from of us. I was unable to avoid it and it cut the front driver side trailer tire clean on the sidewall. Luckily a car that was passing us at the time flagged us down to let us know the tire blew. We were able to pull right over before the tire shredded so no damage to the trailer. Because it was the driver side we didn't want to change it on the interstate so we limped it the 1/4 mile to the next offramp were there was safe room to work.

I was following a friend who pulls with a big 4 door Freightliner so he circled around and pulled in behind us. He has a really nice built in compressor so we broke out the jack, air line and impact wrench and went to work. When we went to put the spare on however, we found out the dealer had given us the wrong spare. I missed that on the PDI obviously.

I was able to reach the dealer who, luckily for us, was 30 miles back up the road from us. About an hour and a half later a service tech was out there with the right tire, we got it mounted and were back on our way.

So other than a late start to our camping trip we had a fantastic time with a great group of folks who were out there with us including our 21 yo DD.

It was, in the long run, lucky to find out about the spare so close to the dealer instead of in the middle of nowhere on our long trip to Goshen. So other than the obvious lessons here (i.e. having the right tools and checking the spare) I would encourage us all to not let misshaps dampen our trips because misshaps will happen!

OK now it's time to plan another campin trip! We have nothing booked (other than Goshen) and there's no way we aren't going campin a few times before Goshen!

Thanks!

No time to be scared really. You react and then a while later you realize it could have been alot worse.

Safe for sure...Sound??? Well that's a matter of opinion! I have always been a lil crazy and never considered sound!!

So B,
Ive been thinking about this for some time if WE "borrowed" a golf cart from a military installation that was deemed a "military" golf cart used by "the" military and we made it say "fly" for an undetermined amount of time would "WE" in fact then need tail numbers ?
I think I have all the criteria....
1)motorized flying object owned by the military that "takes off" then "flys" then "lands" albeit maybe a bad landing ...........

THOUGHTS ?

IN this scenario what criteria do I need "To" get my "aircart" tail numbers ?

I hope you can shed some light on this in a timely matter.

AS I also am applying for my pilots license soon.

You been giving this a lot of though - having you.

I can only answer from a FAA point of view and I must add that I can only give my opinion here and it is not to be considered an official FAA response:

As stated before, the FAA does not issue "Tail Numbers". They issue Nationality and Regrisation marks to U.S. registered aircraft. Tail numbers are often used to identify military aircraft and are usually the serial number of the aircraft the number is assigned to.

If the golf cart you describe here ( and I can not really believe I am even answering this) ie really a military flying golf cart and not an U.S. civil flying golf cart, then the FAA rules as far as Regrisation is concerned is not applicable.

However, if this golf cart really does fly, then you have to abide with the FAA rules regarding flight ( ref 14 CFR 91).

Well I guess the first step is to get this bugger "high" enough in the air so as Dan and Tim can read the vin ....

Let's see where the FAA office is located in your area - oh there it is in Des Moines, phone number 515-289-3840.
