The "City of Bangor" run a ground on rocks off of the shore of Copper Harbor on Nov. 30, 1926. The ship froze up in Lake Superior. They made a ramp on to the ice and drove all but 18 of the Chyslers off to the shore. Now the ship is used for Scuba diving tours.

Call Numbers
Most corporate aircraft that engine nicelles on the fuselage, like say a Gulfstream, Leer etc; can have there numbers on the engine covers on both sides..European aircraft do not have numbers, but letters...same locations..Military acft. have there numbers always on the tail...70-353, would describe the aircraft as being built in 57, the second set of numbers are the manufacturers build number for that aircraft...

Generally agree - the full military tail number is on the tail, but a shorter set of numbers are on both front sides ( the above number on the nose would be 0353). Please realize that the military has their own rules and I am not that familiar with them, but having been around military aircraft and reading certain material, I have a basic knowledge of what their rules are.
If anyone is interested in the location and composition of the rules governing the Nationality and Regisation marks on U.S. civil aircraft Goggle 14 CFR 45.25 and 14 CFR 47.15 ( b ) for more information. These are just two of the many rules governing this subject, but may provide additional background information.
I realize this is a forum that generally speaks to and is about RVing and if anyone would like more information just PM me and I will be glad to talk to you.
