Hey buckeye....I am not understanding what you are suggesting.....and I love suggestions! So the homes you were building had planned on doing a screened porch and you suggest adding it to the foundation? We are having a basement poured with a walkout on the east side. Other than that, there will be no windows in the basement. This allows us to have the porch low to the ground instead of raised. Can you explain a bit more what you mean?

Also gives you a good tornado shelter with the door on the east. Smart planning.

Just doesn't apply to Ms. Amy's supposed to be birthday gift. More of the "do as I say, not as I do" forked tongue speak.

I saw the pic of Amy and lantern just fine, not sure what you are or are not looking at OC.
Chicky, I think RB is referring to having a full foundation, whether it be a basement or crawl space, under your porch instead of just pillars to support it.

Mornin' all. Pretty hot and muggy here, temps in the mid 80's yesterday and dew point was 71. I folded and turned on the AC. Almost got the lawn cut yesterday before I got rained out so I gotta finish today. Looking forward to the cold front pushing thru.

Now that you say this...it sounds like a great idea! But.....how does that work as far as the east side having the walkout? We plan to just dig out a section a bit wider than a slider or French doors, and then put retainer walls on both sides.....so how would you support the porch over that spot?
The more I think about the basement going out as far as the porch edge....the more I love it! We were planning on using Timbertech tongue and groove for the decking, but I had originally wanted a stamped concrete porch look....one for its durability, (wont have to worry if my DM drops a ciggy on it), easy to clean, (hose it down), and for its beauty, (love the stamped look)!
