That's some amazing country. And well photographed, gentlemen.
Canonman - I've been trying my hand at night shooting but I'm pretty much still in the "working on it" stage

First 3 from an airboat ride in Florida. An eagle, blue heron and a horse in the waters edge.
Last 2 from our living room at home. Was fun watching the squirrel checking out the hawk.

Another gorgeous Eagle! Where have they been all my life? Looking forward to having my turn this winter on the Mississippi. Love the Heron too! I'll try and get some pics of cranes this summer to share.

Too funny. 1 of our local squirrels has checked out a hawk (sharp shinned, I think), also:

Nice! Don't remember ever seeing the North and South windows in one photo before.
Did you get that from the photo perch opposite the north window; or below the perch. All I have ever shot from the perch is the standard North Windows photo that everyone seems to get when visiting Arches.

Hi Bodz! We have spotted an eagle a few times, flying over a field about a mile from here just this past winter! It was great! You will be amazed when you see them!!

Thanks f5 I was on the "perch".
Took our son and his fiancee to do their engagement pictures there. 14mm and someone to hold on to your belt while you lean out gets it done.

I tell you what Don, when I get a couple of night photography workshops under my belt I'll get my happy self up there and we'll do some shooting. You just let me know the best time of year and we'll make it happen. Also, if anyone is interested, there is a photographer named Bill McRoberts in Haines, AK at the Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve. He's done som e very artistic stuff. Alaska is on my bucket list for sure.

Anyone into night shooting??

When are you arriving in Kodachrome?

Hiya, F5. I am sooo jealous. When we get a hankerin' for Arches (my favorite park in the whole system) we have to fly from Ohio to SLC, rent a vehicle and drive down to Moab. I'm still learning the ins and outs of my Nikon. I have pix of the North and South windows that were taken in 1983, and pretty much from the same position as Canonman's.

Well, if you are ever in Moab, look out for a Orange Hummer with "f5moab" license plate or a Silverado with "Malmute" for a license plate.
I won't be answering any PMs or emails from this forum anymore. So ya'll have a great time when visiting Utah.

I was experimenting with taking some bird pictures with my Nex-7 on a tripod with an IR remote when I noticed this little guy taking an interest in photography
(shot through a window so a little blurry)

Scott, I think you have set a new and higher standard for the photographer's phrase, "Watch the Birdie."

What a treat for me today. It was pure dumb luck that I was able to see and photograph a Red-tailed Hawk successfully hunt his prey. The pictures were taken in a St. Louis County park, the last place I would expect to witness such an event.
The hawk seemed unconcerned that I was close enough to photograph him.
Not the best shot but in the hawk's talon amid the dead vegetation is his prize.
The hawk flew back to the same perch and plucked his meal from the dead leaves. I love this photo. I'm so glad I took my camera with me to the park.
