WOW! That's all I can say. Great shots.

HDR? Yes sir, good eye.

If I adjusted the exposure down for the cloud detail, the Joshua trees were dark in silhoutte. If I adjusted the exposure up for the details in the Joshua trees, the clouds were blown out and without detail. HDR works well for high contrast situations (or can if done correctly).

Haven't contributed in while. Thought I'd share a couple of photos from a very unique NP just before the closure. These are from Black Canyon of the Gunnison NP in Colorado.
Very cool starting point for a trip into the Four Corners area

Nice photos Canonman! Thanks for sharing. The Black Canyon of the Gunnison is on my bucket list of places I still want to visit, just haven't made it there yet. Pictures like yours keep it on the list.

Thanks for the comments and kind words. I was very impressed wit the whole area. One of the trip highlights was a trip into the Ute Mountain Tribal Park. If you could imagine Mesa Verde back when it was first seen by the Wetherill brothers back in the 1880's. The ruins had lots of artifacts in and around the entire area. The ruins in the Tribal Park still do. Very cool place to visit and hear about the legends, religion and mysticism that made up the Ancient Puebloan culture. Highly recommended if you're into that sort of thing.
