If you can't find the disc, go to this page and at the bottom you can load the latest version of View NX2

Haven't taken the time to tell y'all this. Stupid err80 popped up again Monday KILLING an awesome shot of Tommy Johnson blowing his body apart. Shipped it back to Canon, they received it Friday. Hopefully they can cover it under warranty.

Absolutely you can. One month out of warranty it was suggested that it was likely a bad memory card, so I tried that out, thought it was the issue. Was ready to toss the card when it happened again on Monday the 19th, two months after the conversation and three out of warranty. Mind you, there's failures stored in the camera going back to November.

Canon told me today, sorry, but it's going to be $233.92 just to open it up for diag, if repair fits under that there won't be any more charges but it could go up from there.

This after I called chasing them down. Yes, they were too good to call me.

Hacked? Oh yeah, I'm hacked.

I got an Err01 on my cheapo 75-300mm zoom-telephoto Canon lens. I sent it to Canon, and they said it would be around $129 to fix, and with shipping, handling, and taxes it would come out to $142. That is for a lens I only paid $155 brand new.

I had already done a search on the internet, and found that lens was prone to the Err01 code. If shots are taken at full open aperture, the lens works just fine.......and I still use that lens.

This is an internal problem, either in the mirrorbox, focusing assembly or main board. $233 is a far cry compared to the $6,800 the thing hung me for a year ago, but I'm more than angry now. My XSi? 17,000 clicks out of an entry level camera with a 100,000 cycle life span. My 7D? 38,000 clicks on it's 150,000 cycle life span. No issues.

My 1DX? That I had to financially hang myself for last year? 58,000 clicks now (That 12FPS can be a killer.) but at 25,000 cycles it threw the first error.

I should have sent it in right off I guess. Canon will goodwill two months past warranty, I guess two months and three weeks is too much to ask.

Warranty is warranty, but I can't help but be upset especially since dude told me in March that it could be a card error and see if I could sort that out. Took the card out of rotation, a busy spring, two months and 20,000 clicks later I thought it was figured out. I was wrong.

In six years I've spent over $16,000 on Canon gear. Now I wonder how smart that was.

Yes, I'm whining. But at this price point you'd think they could take care of a known problem.

Jumped from Canon in 1977 and can honestly say, I have never had an error or a problem with any Nikon I have owned since then.

I'm giving it serious thought, I had an issue with my 70-200 that I repaired myself. Two problems does not a jumping ship completely make. Declining warranty over 22 days, which was under the advisement of one of their people, does.
