Picnic Basket

Does anyone remember the old wicker picnic baskets? You know, like Yogi Bear was always trying to steal. We had on when I was a kid back in the 50's. Dad would say lets go to the park (Yellowstone) and Mom could pack up a lunch in the time it took Dad to gas up the car and bring it around front. (Had our own gas on the ranch). A thermos of Iced Tea and one of Kool Aid, sammiches and chips or if planned ahead cold fried chicken, tater salad and carrot and celery sticks. And off to the Park we would go as Yellowstone was only about 100 miles from home.

Remember them, we still have ours. It is so full of memories there is hardly enough room to put a tablecloth in it.

I have one exactly like the one in the photo. We used it often when we had a pop-up, but we haven't used it in years.

Picnic Basket

We have two baskets purchased for use, but haven’t used them yet. Remember the metal gallon thermos bottle (always filled with Kool-Aid and ice) and the colored aluminum glasses from the ‘50’s? I use the glasses in my camper. I also have a “Penguin” insulated hot and cold server to use, along with a covered Jello mold. Now, if we could only get back Keen drink mix, tomato and celery flavored Jello, and Pillsbury Space Food Sticks from the 60’s to complete the picnic.

I have a metal version that I bought at an RV show. It was sold by an antique vendor there. I really didn't need it but it was so cool!

We have one as a decoration in our house. I use it to stash electronics, laptops, cables, anything really!
