Proof of insurance

Does anyone know if you have to have proof of insurance for a travel trailer when transferring ownership and buying a plate in Ontario Canada?

If you put it on the road insurance is the only way to roll because you NEVER know what will happen.

You know if you do I have never needed to show it, the RV should only be on the road while connected to the TV and that by extension covers the trailer.

Our travel trailer is insured through GMAC via Good Sam. I was told that we would NOT be provided a proof of insurance card unless we had our other cars insured with them as well. Therefore, we pull the trailer all over the country with no proof the trailer is insured. Makes me really uncomfortable but it is what it is. I think Allstate will list the trailer on your vehicle's proof of insurance card.

As a fellow Texan I'm thinking you know that several police departments in Texas will impound your vehicle if you are stopped and can't show proof of insurance.

I don't know if this applies to pulled RV's.

Well I . Looked and farmers has my trailer on my policy paperwork but cannot remember or ever remember having a proof card for my trailer...and in tx its all electronic anymore...if they ASK you for proof they already know...even our state inspections are going electronic and we will not be issued stickers anymore...it will all be tied to registration...

Anyway, I am pretty sure a towed object is covered by the towing vehicles policy...an rv would need its own liabilty policy. ..

In any case this is texas and I honestly have no clue of canadian law....sorry to clog your thread....lol
