Propane fire pit

My wife and I were wondering if anyone uses a propane fire pit? We were at Lowes last week and bought one for the house and decided to take it camping so we wouldn't have to buy or haul firewood.

We used it the first night but ended up buying firewood for the second night. Just wanted to know what others thought about this. It is very light wieght about 5-10lbs. I have 2 7gallon propane tanks mounted on the front of our TT.

I have the same one from Lowes. I use it often, no need to haul firewood, and no smoke smell. Puts off a decent amount of heat as well. Bought it last year during football season to use while we tailgate. Works great under a 10' X10' pop up tent and while sitting on the mat. Produces zero heat on the bottom and I've let it run 5-6 hours straight on high. Paid $89 on sale with a 10% military discount. Can't beat it!!!

I prefer propane fire pits because i don't stink afterwards. Costs a small fortune to run them but it's worth it I average a 20lb tank a day when camping.

We have a Campfire in a Can - Canadian Company and they are VERY nice folks. The fire is amazing and output is great - have not measured how long a 20 Lb tank lasts because we just gifted ourselves with this over the holidays BUT...we did use it for several hours on our gas grill's tank and there was plenty propane left, so I am not sure we will power through a 20Lb tank per night!

I don't find it to be too bad down here in SC. I paid about $18.50 to fill my 20lb tank and ran the tank 4 hours on a smoker and about 5 hours on the fire pit. Still have about half a tank left (feels like). Firewood was selling for $6 a bundle at the campground store last weekend and I'd go through that in a couple hours.

Ok that sounds reasonable...especially if you are supplying the BBQ

We live with annual summertime campfire ban's here in BC. We bought one to give us a bit of that campfire feel when not allowed the real thing.

We have had a non-stop burn bans here in drought-stricken Texas for many years. I see a lot of folks using these little propane fires to get around the ban.

I bpught one last fall to combat the fire Bans in my area of Texas. and some place i have camped do not allow any open ground fires. so i would have to haul a wood fire pit and wood if i want that route

I like ours especially at the end of the night, just turning it off and going to bed.
