We have a Little Red Campfire. Works for us. Even has an attachment for cooking, not grilling but in a Piaya pan. Did a good job. Also very compact and self contained.

I lost the urge to cut, split, stack or carry wood in the back of my truck allot of years ago. I do't own a propane fire pit but do think they provide a nice place to talk story around.

Aww, we LOVE our propane fire pit... so for us
Propane fire pits are like...
Not having to pay thru the nose for wet wood at the campsite, or carrying dirty piles of wood in the truck bed
...being able to sit in a complete circle around the fire without choking on smoke
...being able to put the pit directly under the awning so we can sit out by the fire when it's raining or snowing
|
YUP! exactly...

We get 90% of our heat in the house from wood... I wouldn't mind a break from splitting and stacking, maybe a propane fire pit is right for me when camping.
I've never seen one, much less sat around one.
I'll have to check them out.

Mine is similar to this one at Costco... although I bought mine at SAMs probably 5 years ago for about $80...
It is a little rusty now, but still works fine. Just converted it last week from using dedicated 20# tank to hooking to the low pressure camper line on the side of the TT.

Propane Fire Pits are like....
...Reading a newspaper and knowing it is fake news, but wanting to believe that it is Real anyway.
It is not a Campfire.... it is flames in a can.... which makes it a fake campfire... that NO Boy Scout would be proud of....

It's amazing that this discussion of wood vs propane fire could cause dissension. But why would I be surprised? This place of full of it.. Literally. It it's not a certain person's way then by gosh, it's WRONG. Right?
My take on it... I'll do whatever I want.

LoL
We have a similar deal... We share everything. What's mine is hers and what's hers is hers.
When it came to kids... I wanted 2, she wanted 4 so we compromised...
We have 6 [emoji12]

We recently bought a propane fire pit while camping during a fire ban. While we still prefer wood and will continue to use it whenever possible, having the "fake fire" was FAR better than having no fire at all. We should have bought one years ago.
