You guys are bringing a lot of past beer brands memories back - the Falstaff,Carlings Black Label (remember their ICBM campaign - the ICBM being "Inter City Beer Missile" for freshness),Olympia ( from Washington State which I thought was a very good crisp beer),Pabst Blue Ribbon and many more.

I ran into the Red and Black label while I was in Knox, I was drinking Coors before then but after the first weekend bout with the Red and Black I switched to Bud.

So you didn't buy into their ICBM claim?

Who's claim?

Red and Black would launch like a missile the next morning but the splash down was not the same.

Their claim that the beer was fresh and great tasting.

About all I remember of Carlings Black Label beer was that jingle, "Hey Mabel, Black Label."

Ummmm, NO!

I was a dyed in the wool Coors kinna guy and it was not available there at the time.

So an adjustment was needed and the two labels were NOT it.

I remember that jingle also. I believe that the Inter City Beer Missile campaign came out about the same time the U.S. and Russia were engaged in the "Cold War" and Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles were being introduced by both countries.

Carlings ICBM commercials IIRC on TV showed their beer can shaped like a missile flying which I guess was to empathize how fast the beer was in the stores after being brewed. At least that's how I recall it.
