Redneck Parade in West Monroe, LA

One of our annual Christmas parades down here in West Monroe, LA is called the Redneck Christmas Parade. All the entrance fees are donated to a charity and this thing has really grown in the few years it has been going on. The more "redneck" you can make yourself, the funnier it is.

Our own local Uncle Si of Duck Dynasty was the Grand Marshal this year, and Mountain Man was last year.

They shut down the main road in front of my shop for this thing, so we usually get to partake in the festivities. Here are a few pics from yesterday, that I thought others may enjoy seeing.

Looks like a pretty cool parade. Break out the inner redneck and have some fun.

Disclaimer:

Pic number four (the blonde) is *NOT* me!

LOL, I sent DH downtown yesterday around 2:30 to pick up something for me. He had to park at the post office and WALK about 10 blocks to get to that store. That was the "other" parade (that starts "over there" and comes across "over here"), that few of us on this side of the river participate in since we got the redneck parade.

"Bless his heart". But he braved the cold and got what I sent him for! I stayed *home*...way too cold for me, but I could hear the redneck parade from our house, and the fireworks on the river last night scared the beejeepers outta me! I thought it was a bad wreck when the first big boomers went off.

Yep, this parade has (the equivalent of cyber world) gone viral! I remember the first parade and it was only five years ago (?) and was very small. Now it's HUGE!

BTW, Love the camper float...gotta save that one to my wallpaper.

Small town country style Christmas celebrations, gotta love 'em!

Were there horses wmtire? There's usually a couple dozen gorgeous quarter horses being ridden.

I saw a few, and they left evidence of their presence right in the road in front of our shop. Luckily (or it may have been planned), they were at the end so nobody had to drive thru their territory markings.

We did have some customers at the time so I didn't get to see the entire parade. Usually the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Dept's mounted patrol is in it, but I didn't see them this year. May have been to cold to justify it.

Same thing on those fireworks. I thought it was thunder till I realized what it was...and I live aways from the river, near Drew School.
