Note for those who don’t pay attention to which sub-forum a topic is posted in:
This is posted in the “Off-Topic” sub-forum.
I am posting the message I have sent to my customers. It doesn’t pertain to RV water heaters, but it is a safety issue that could impact many people here.
For my customers and friends with gas water heaters:
While your water heater’s serial number may fall within this published range of serial numbers, it isn’t necessarily one of the water heaters included in this recall. This recall involves only Ultra-Low NOx water heaters—not the standard Low NOx type that are usually installed in Virginia. The Ultra-Low NOx water heaters are mainly a California thing, so you probably have nothing to worry about, but there have been times over the years when the only water heaters available locally were the Ultra-Low NOx versions, so they were installed in lieu of the standard Low NOx versions in those cases.
Regardless of where you live, you should follow the link provided in this article and plug your serial number in. You really should do this just to know whether or not your water is included in this recall.
If your water heater is included in this recall, get it taken care of as soon as possible, especially if your water heater is not installed on a non-combustible surface, or if it is sitting in a plastic overflow pan, regardless of the combustibility of the floor.
