Let me be the one that gives you a straight answer to your question about these things, which BTW is just what I asked when I first heard them here.

They are those round lights mounted toward the top of an RV (exterior) that are used to supposedly "scare" off an intruder at night. You turn them on if you suspect there is an intruder outside and the light is supposed to run them off - same principle as your motion sensor lights serve at your house.

They are VERY bright and blind people ..... It is good for floodlighting the area around he trailer for sure. The only reason I will be installing them.

We have not used it yet really.....although the other night I heard coyotes that sounded like they were right outside the rig! I should have gone to the cargo area and flipped it on to see if it would have scared them! Ha! I think the best use it might have would be like OC said, in that it would sure annoy a campsite to my left. Although if you are in a spot all alone, and no dusk to dawn type lights, then that light would be awesome to help light that side of the rig. We have the porch lights that keep both doors and both patio areas well lit. We also have the flood lights that light up the cargo ramp area. Those are sweet. Those that own the party ramp must love them!

You're right, the switch panels are upside down and the labels are crooked. Probably labeled by a phrog aphter tippin an adult beverage or two.
