Scare Lights
For those that use them, I had the rare occasion to use ours for the first time in Florida and all I got was a flash and no light. After digging out the caulking from the lense screw holes I replaced the bulb and decided to clean the other one out when I got home and had a taller ladder.
I don't know who the "Einstein" was that decided that the lense screw holes needed to be caulked shut, but they made sure they even filled the "X" slots in the screws. Brilliant! Only took 45 minutes to dig the 4 screws out using a drill bit, pick, pocket knife, flat screwdriver and needle nose pliers. Whomever did the caulking did an 'A' no. 1 job. He filled them full!

My scare light bulb didn't last long. I don't remember having the other issues you did though.

I thought just the lens came out after the installation ?
I have two of them and will install them exactly the same ! No water is going through anything ! The screw tops etc will be covered with sealant !

I can see filling the hole with a silicone paste like Danco Silicone Grease like I did, just not with caulking, and why fill the "X" in the screw head with caulk also?

Have DH remove the lenses and apply a good coat of Danco Silicone Grease on the lense edge and re-install. Then fill the cavity with the silicone grease. You can get the grease @ Lowes or HD.

That's OK B, just consider the source. At least we do something besides going to a business establishment and pretend to work while messing around on a confuser all day and half the night while his DW is out slaving away trying to keep the home fires burning.

The big round clear lense useless lights usually mounted high on the trailer pointing out into no where except in your neighbors eyes.

true - he told me what his job consists of and why he has all this free time, but now I am wondering about that also.

Replaced scare lights-----------------
I replaced my scare lights when the white frame work began to show rust!
The scare lights are available in stainless steel for the round ones. When re-installing the lens, make sure the drain hole is at the bottom when mounted. Do not caulk drain hole!
