For me, it's a convenience thing not a necessity or functional like OC is brainstorming. I can't prove my flimsy screen door is braced any better with it, just seems so. I mount mine in the area I tend to want to push or pull when operating the door. Every once in a while, I may grab that bar, while staying more inside, to bring both doors back since one outside door power opens. In the bedroom, it kinda keeps me from brushing the door as I come down the hall into that room carrying stuff (she doesn't like it when I call her stuff).
A down side is my cousins with larger hands complain the bar is too close to the screen.
Me and the cousins seem to get wasted anytime the bar is too close.

The reason I am not sure is I used the original clear plastic panel as a template for cutting the new one. Unfortunately, I threw away the scrap piece.

Mine was the new 2013 door pictured in a previous message... Can't tell you the exact size of mine mounted in it's tracks on the door, but I can tell you that... from the lower edge of the top track to the upper edge of the bottom track, it's 9.5 inches... if that helps.

Thanks in advance Herk. When you get a chance that would be great.

I talked with 2 different people at Lippert today. The slider panel that Herk posted is 9 3/4 X 12", they DO NOT make a 12 X 12 which is what I need! So now I either:
a. keep what I got
b. modify my door for the smaller panel
c. wait and see what OC comes up with
I am going to option C at this time, maybe B if I get really bored this summer.

Thanks for the confidence, if the weather is warmer tomorrow I will resume the project. I installed LED taillight assemblies today and it was really too cold for this old man. Not really pleased with the lights as they were submersible type for a boat trailer and had to be reversed side to side due to the ladder being on the lh side. Have to fab some kind of license plate bracket to sit above the rh assy. The lights themselves are brighter, just don't like the revising I had/have to do.

Well, tomorrow is supposed to be nice again here in Concord and I have come up with an idea to make this push bar unlatch the screen door. I found a small extension spring and formed a 90° bend in a pc of 3/8" fuel line to go thru the screen and push a rod connected to the latch handle. Now, just have to get the push bar and brackets made and installed and connect the spring to the bar, anchor the tube and make the attaching rod. Hopefully will have pictures IF IT WORKS.

Preliminary pictures of the push bar. Now, have to remove everything and paint, re-install and then re-hang the door. Not particularly fond of the bar holding brackets, but didn't want to drill extra holes in the door.

Finally finished the Screen Door Push Bar project. Seems to work great and TOWTA even likes it, so I have to deem it a success.
