We don't have any vehicles on the top five list. /snark
Keep in mind those are stats for stolen and recovered vehicles.
I wonder what the stats are for stolen and not recovered vehicles?
Oh, and my state isn't yellow either. Might be because 'round here, stealin' a person's vehicle is taken as seriously as stealin' horses was back in the Wild West.

Drug dealers like them for running their dope and then ditch them if the BP shows.

An easy fix, have your mechanic install a toggle switch that will cut the power to the fuel pump. The switch could be installed under the seat or any place that only you know where to look. This is an easy fix that does not cost a lot of money.

I actually have a kill switch setting with my performance tune now, so no worries there...but great idea for those who don't

Search the internet and you will see many articles stating the Ford is stolen more than Silverados. But most articles don't say they are "recovered." So are the yellow states better or worse than the black states?
I guess I don't worry. I'm insured, and if I catch someone stealing it...
"If you drive a pickup truck or a large SUV, you'd better watch out.
The top ten vehicles stolen in the U.S. between 2010-2012 were all trucks and SUVs, according to data released Tuesday from the Highway Loss Data Institute, an insurance industry backed research group.
The four-wheel-drive Ford F-250 crew cab pickup is the vehicle most vulnerable to theft, the group said."

"Most stolen cars in the USA in 2012

2. Honda Civic (47,037)
3. Ford Pickup Full Size (26,770)
4. Chevrolet Pickup Full Size (23,745)
5. Toyota Camry (16,251)
6. Dodge Caravan (11,799)

The problem with that is.... are you going to turn off that switch every single time you park your vehicle?
Before my Excursion was stolen, a wire for some unused component in the engine bay came adrift and got sucked into the power steering pump pulley, it shorted out and blew the ECM fuse, rendering the Exy DRT (dead right there). Was an absolute booger to figure out.
Then my truck was stolen. http://www.forestriverforums.com/for...ead-29277.html
I have a viper smart start system that works off my cell phone. Which means there is no practical range limit. I can be in Chicago and start my truck in St. Louis. It has a channel to pop the trunk that I don't use. I have since wired a relay in to that channel that will ground out that unused hot wire in the engine bay and blow the ECM fuse.
If anyone steals the Big Unit again, all I have to do is open the app, press the trunk button and bzzzt, it will die and be un-startable right then, right there. And just in case the crook is semi-intelligent, I have that relay wire up to seal itself on after activation. If he sees the fuse is bad, and replaces it, it will just blow again. You have to physically pull the relay out of its base to reset it.
Don't screw with a man who really knows electricity.
Tim

Yep, we have 1 and 5 ~ although our area is typically not problematic and we do keep them locked (does that even matter any more? ) LOL, people who are up to no good are getting more tech savvy, before long they'll come up with some electronic gadget that lets 'em in and starts the vehicle for them!

I am going to get a kill switch install. Another idea is to remove coil wire when leaving truck for longer amount of time.

Coil wire? They stopped using those many years ago. Doesn't help a diesel either. ..
