Shutdown
You know this Government shutdown is serious when you try to lodge a complain on the National Do Not Call web site and get a notice that it's not available due to the shutdown.

I knew it was serious as soon as I showed up to work this morning!

Yes Sir! Sitting at home right now. Working on the Sabre brakes trying to figure out why the brake controller keeps throwing a code.

I'm one of the lucky few on my project that gets to keep working (for now, at least).

I guess I was lucky as a Federal Employee, but FAA inspectors have always been declared as "essential" as are Air Traffic Controllers during Government shutdowns.
I was sent home during a brief shutdown sometime in the 1980's for about 4 hours, was called back the next morning and got paid for the 4 hours.
I realize some are not so fortunate and feel sorry for being victims of this senseless act on part of the people who are suppose to be working for us.

All these people in control of the shutdown must have been the kids that their mommies took care of their problems at the sand box instead of learning how to take care of it themselves.
Worthless.

Not all Politicians are Statesmen.
Just not all like Managers are Leaders.
Shame everyone else has to pay when some people can't stop having a @#$ing contest. Feels like both parties are just generating sound bites for the next election.

Exactly... We had some folks go home because of it. If this were the private sector, they'd all be fired. Accountability??

You know the shutdown is serious when a park ranger comes by your campsite with an eviction notice.

Wow. His day must totally blow chunks. He has to kick folks out, lock the gates and then go home to figure out how to pay his bills. Sorry about the camping trip though - tough week for a lot of folks.

Call the Chinese Ambassador to get these parks back open. They are the ones holding the Notes to the Deed on that property and I am sure that they want to get paid.
Visit a private campground and let the free market work.

Our camping neighbor didn't even know about the impending gov't shutdown so he wasn't a happy camper when the ranger told him he would have to leave. I'm glad I wasn't the messenger of the news.

Ya know it's serious when the FLOTUS announces that due to the shutdown she's sending her "tweet account staff" home and her tweets will be very limited.
And (gasp) the panda cam has been shut down! No watching those darling pandas at the zoo! That was actually released as an "urgent message" by some in the media.
I *love* that the WWII veterans (some of them likely were among those who stormed Normandy) broke down the barriers and visited *their* memorial.
Hats off to you guys! And even in your wheelchairs you stand taller than the alley cats in the DC litterbox.

FTR, I heard on the radio today that those being evicted from parks have "48 hours to pack up and make their exit".
I'd use every nano second of that 48 hours.

Ditto, but I heard that they passed a "law" that guarantees their pay in times like these. Sickening....

From what dealings I have had with rangers, this is the stuff they live for. They seem to put on a sad / stern facade but inside they are doing the "Snoopy" dance. They may be a bit late on a bill here or there but Congress paid them retroactively during the mid 90's shutdown. My bet is they will see pay for their time off.
