Just wondering did the people in the Buffalo area get a break today, We finally did here at the eastern end of Lake Ontario. Didn't amount to much at my house if you spread all the drifts out we probably got 3 inches but the wind mad it seem like it would never stop. Hope everybody out there made it home safely.

Blizzard of 77 was a lake effect event for awhile the snow that caused the problem was blowing in off the ice on Lake Erie.

Had a break today with somewhat blue skies and sunshine. Had a front end loader come down our street today, so we have just over one lane open. Hope to get the roof cleaned off tomorrow or Friday. Could swear I herd the motor home saying let's head south.

We have about 5 inches since 3 pm, Lake Effect from Lake Huron here. No where near the stuff in the Queen City. Now for a throwback Irv Weinstein and Tom Jowles on CH 7 Eyewitness News reporting the snow..

Long-winded politicians and the frequent political conventions in Chicago have been suggested as the source of the nickname "Windy City"

If you grew up in the area you'll remember watching Commander Tom on CH. 7 after school and then Irv Weinstein would come on with the news and say something like, "Fire tonight in the Town of Cheektowaga." I remember thinking they seemed to have a lot of fires in the Buffalo area.

Yes I do remember both! Being in the TV Business I remember the 82 storm when CH 7 lost some equipment and was using a telephone line to broadcast with for weeks.

Toronto is sending snow removal equipment to help in Buffalo is saw on the news last night.

Round 2 is starting here in Northern NY, hope it's still giving those poor people in Buffalo a break. Wind is kicking up and it has started to snow, they say in our area depending on where you are 4 to 24 more inches.

Toronto sending snow removal equipment? Is this the same Toronto that had to call in the army when they received 6 inches of snow a few years ago?

Thank you all my Canadian relatives for sending assistance I know you have sent power trucks here during the last three ice storms we had. The guys you sent were great then and I'm sure these will do a great job too. We were out offering coffee and food to them when they were in our area and were very happy to see them. The last Ice Storm we had was only 5 days without power but the time before was 16 days.
