Where I am we finally got a break and plows came down our road late last night, right now not snowing and winds not blowing. We didn't get much just wind making it bad, a 3 ft drift running through my driveway the rest of it has been blown away by the wind.

Railroad is pretty much stopped. I just arrived in Albany, and I think I will be here for a while for a train back to Mass. Nothing much is getting through Buffalo.

I got a utility trailer lined up to go dig out my family. I've got a 56" front blower on a Kubota tractor. If anybody needs help in the area, let me know and I'll swing by.

I'm worried about roof snow loads with the rain expected this weekend.

Snow storms tend to bring neighbors together in ways that don't normally happen in out busy lives. Keep sharing the pictures. And stay safe.

Wow!! That's incredible. Here on the north side of Lake Ontario, just east of Toronto, we can still see some grass. We only got a couple inches but the wind blew the Christmas lights off the peak on my garage. We're hearing that they got a couple feet of snow inland from the south end of Georgian Bay (off Lake Huron) across Orillia over to Kawartha Lakes - all roads are closed.

You're exactly right. Great lakes aren't freezing like they use to, and they are warmer, which means more evaporation. All due to our neglect of the environment (I am guilty as charged).

I lived in Buffalo during the Blizzard of 77. 100 inches of snow in some areas. 200+ inches for the winter. Mountains of snow were still melting in June. The wind is severe. Chicago is called the Windy City, but the wind blows harder in Buffalo. It takes a hardy soul to live there. Great people who live in a much maligned area. It's no fun but people do come together.

Spoke to a brother in Henrietta (just South of Rochester) and he said they were faring OK,but the Thruway was closed from Rochester to the PA state line.

Appartently Rochester,East of Buffalo, isn't getting as much lake effect snow off of Lake Ontario as Buffalo is from Lake Erie.

It's a tad early for ice on the Great Lakes which had record ice cover last year. Wake up!

I was around too, and this is much more snow than '77. The winds aren't as bad, or it would be a lot worse.

I've been talking to people that have been around for a long time, my FIL is 81, and cannot ever remember snow like this.
