I lived in Illinois until 1980 & still visit family & I have never heard of Vernors & now in Virginia definitely not heard of it..........

SW Virginia Subs here..... alot to do with Subway Rest.

Lived in Michigan for many years and can't stand Vernor's. Locals there think it's ginger ale, but not quite. I can best describe it as a mix of ginger ale and cream soda gone wrong. When I think of ginger ale, I think of Canada Dry (eh?). Cream soda could be either IBC or A&W. But, to each their own. As for Faygo, I do see it from time to time here in Colorado.

Speaking of Colorado, at least here in Fort Collins area, I hear the majority of people call soft drinks pop, except for the Californians who give you the "deer in the headlights" look if you don't call it soda.

The only thing carbonated I call "Soda", is "Soda Water" which is a cocktail mix. Soda Water can also be viewed as Pop without the flavor. It's just plain carbonated water. So, just plain carbonated water is soda. If it has a flavor, sweetened, or diet, it's transformed into "Pop". That's how my internal filing system has it sorted out. LOL

Vernors vs. Canada Dry Ginger Ale.
Vernors, sweeter, not dry. Canada dry...dry. Like sweet vs. dry wine.
