Soda
Pop
Soda-Pop
carbonated beverage
soft drink

Coke is a registered trade mark of the Coca-Cola company. If you ask for Coke and they give you a Pepsi or an RC, etc. then they have violated the trademark.

Remember the old "Say Pepsi Please" ads?

Cola is generic. Coke is not generic.

You are correct, but tell that to the millions and millions who just say Coke for almost any caramel colored soft drink - just Like Scotch tape and Kleenex

Here in Ontario these soda or pop are not really used. We just ask for a Coke Or Pepsi Specially if you eat a double cheese pizza.

Don't you have to wear your drinking tuke when you order it that way?

Some fast food co's are either owned by or have contracts with Coke or Pepsi. That's why you get only one or the other.

true - I believe Taco Bell only serves Pepsi as their cola drink.

But how many stores have you walked into and saw Pepsi in Coke Refrigerators or vice versa? Same with some can vending machines.

I grew up in Kokomo Indiana and believe it or not we called everything soda pop. Then we would ask what kind. I usually said Nehi grape.

If you look, you'll see either Pepsi OR Coke in the smaller coolers. The store is paid by them for the display. Same goes for the placement on shelves. Most of them are at eye level. I worked at a Publix in FL and learned a few things.

Having dated a women who was employed by a food/beverage brokerage company a long time ago, the eye level shelves in a super market and/or convenient store are highly sought after places in the stores. Another place I never knew or thought about regarding this is the items that are placed in the aisles leading to the cash registers and also those items that are on the tables that the registers are on. These items just don't randomly end up there- it is a highly specialized science regarding the placement of this items and companies compete for the prime spaces.

I worked for Frito lay for 36 yrs and it was a big part of our job. Different products in multiple locations with detail patterns to attract the customers to purchase the snacks. If you went to Holiday gas station stores you would find they were set up the same way with the same products. It's big business with large rewards. You may thought YOU selected a snack product, but we just lead you to it.

Yes it is big big business - I went to a store with her once and saw she having to push back an item (catsup I think) that a competing brokerage company had "accidentally" pushed over into her clients shelf space.

I've had many a battle when I took too much space for my product. It gets ulgy and sometimes even costly ($). Part of my job I hated. Just lucky I worked for the bigger company with deep pockets.
